Our Pastor

Although Tim Hughes Williams grew up in North Carolina, he was born right here in Baltimore City. He says that moving back to town was like going “Back To The Future.”

“Baltimore is a one-of-a-kind city,” Tim said. “I fell in love with the layers of history and culture and, of course, the people. It feels right to be back here.” He currently lives in Hampden with his husband Perry and their retriever Zoe.

Tim earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Davidson College before spending a year in an urban ministry immersion program in West Philadelphia, where he worshipped with a local congregation and was a teaching aide in a neighborhood high school. He reports that he’s been hooked on city living ever since.

Tim’s urban ministry experience led him to earn a Dual Master’s Degree in Divinity (Princeton Theological Seminary) and Social Work (Rutgers University). He is passionate about cities, stories, social justice, and all the places they intersect. He served Presbyterian congregations in South Boston and Baltimore for over a decade before accepting a call to serve as the pastor of Light Street Presbyterian Church in Federal Hill.

Tim says, “I feel so fortunate to serve a church like Light Street, which has always been known for its faithfulness, hospitality, and advocacy. This is a community that is ready to explore new ways to be the church. I’m excited to see where God takes us.”
